Health and Safety Precautions

Updated 8/31/21

CUPA-HR is deeply committed to providing a safe environment for our conference attendees, particularly in light of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. CUPA-HR is monitoring various agencies for COVID protocols, including the CDCPrince George’s CountyState of MarylandWHO and Johns Hopkins University’s Health Guidance.

To support that effort, in-person conference attendees will be required to review and sign prior to their arrival a Health and Safety Statement. In this statement, we will ask all in-person attendees to attest that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19* and agree not to attend if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within 14 days prior to the conference.

In addition, attendees must agree to comply with all COVID-19-related procedures and protocols issued by CUPA-HR, the Gaylord National Harbor Resort and Convention Center, and federal, state, and local authorities — including mask-wearing, distancing requirements, and similar precautions.  As of August 8, Prince George’s County, where the conference will be held, has reinstated a mask mandate for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. As such, masks will be required for all conference attendees. Although social distancing restrictions have not been mandated, CUPA-HR will configure all meeting rooms with 3-feet distancing when possible.

An email with detailed instructions for reviewing and signing the statement will be sent to all in-person attendees that must be completed prior to arrival. Attendees will not be asked to share their vaccination cards but only to attest that they have been fully vaccinated and agree to comply with the provisions as outlined in the Health and Safety Statement. If you have questions, please contact [email protected].

Other Safety Measures in Place

The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center has instituted enhanced cleaning procedures. Please see their Commitment to Clean policy. We will be working with the hotel and all of our partners on cleaning protocols. In addition to the hotel’s hand sanitation stations, we will provide face masks to all attendees. In order to put information at your fingertips and ensure fewer touch points, the conference app will be used for all program information.

This web page will be updated as changes to health and safety protocols occur.

* Individuals with a medical or religious reason for not being vaccinated may discuss the possibility of in-person attendance with certification of a negative COVID-19 test. Details are outlined in the Health and Safety Statement.
