Current and Future Challenges and Priorities

The Summit will open with a discussion of the priorities and challenges our campuses and HR teams are facing now and into the future.

HR Strategy

Colleges and universities continue to be faced with multiple challenges: the looming enrollment cliff; regulatory and legislative challenges; increasing costs of goods, services and infrastructure; and the global battle for talent, to name just a few. Many institutional leaders are looking to their chief HR officers and HR teams for help confronting these challenges strategically. During this workshop, we’ll explore what should go into a strategic plan, the step-by-step process of creating a strategic plan, and the core principles and support needed for success when creating a strategic plan.

Presented by Michael Rask, National Higher Education Practice Leader, Aon, and John Whelan, Vice President for HR, Yale University

Building a Strong Organization Brand

The ongoing, post-pandemic struggle to attract and retain talent suggests that now is the right time to create and leverage a strategic employee value proposition for your institution. TIAA’s chief marketing officer will discuss how a strong organizational brand can help you attract and retain top talent. Washington Update: Higher Ed HR and Workforce Challenges and Opportunities

This session will provide insight into the legislative and regulatory landscape. Josh will highlight the challenges and opportunities and engage us in conversations about the impacts on our campuses.

Lunch and Lightning Rounds: Small Group Discussions

This is your chance, in a small group of CHROs, to quickly discuss some of the most significant challenges and opportunities for higher education HR leaders. We will identify three to four topics and spend approximately 10 minutes on each. The conversation will be engaging, beneficial and fast-paced.

Facilitated by Jay Stephens, CUPA-HR Past Chair, Kansas State University
